We are glad to report that the new kid on the block, CRU London, more than held its own at Pure London this summer. Our first exhibition was a roaring success and our collection of 12 handcrafted leather handbags were very well received.
The reactions of fashion buyers spoke for themselves, one buyer making a remark with respects to prices, as in to say " your bags are clearly a cut above the rest". The buttery texture of the vegetable tanned leather along with the hand-stitched finish and strong, simple designs, gave the collection a distinctive aura and stopped buyers in their tracks to admire the collection.
Thanks to the creativity and innovation of our visual merchandiser, our small stand was beautifully arranged, making the best use of space and creatively arranging the 12 bag designs on stuffed cotton bags, using straw baskets to frame the smaller Whitby, Vincent and Nella Crossover bags.
A signature characteristic of CRU's collection is of course the suede inner lining, which is just one more example that we have not cut any corners with materials, only using the best leather, both inside and out. Therefore, to highlight this unique trait, we even turned one Whitby tote inside out to show off the beautiful, buttery suede interior and the high standard of craftsmanship followed throughout each design.
The experience at Pure London was fantastic and very inspiring and proved that CRU has huge potential both within the UK and abroad. The collection appeals to women who appreciate the character of vegetable tanned leather, the delicate touch and attention to detail offered by our artisans, and the sophistication and elegance inspired by our London-based designers.
We're already researching the next trade show to attend, potentially somewhere further afield in Europe. Make sure to visit back for updates on this soon!
